Repair FAQ
Prior to contacting us, or any appliance repair technician, we encourage you to review our self-help guide, as it may help you resolve the issue and avoid an unnecessary service call charge.
On All Appliances
POWER: Is it plugged in? Is the circuit breaker tripped?
AGE: How old is the appliance? Is it worth fixing? A 10+-year-old appliance is more likely to have parts no longer available or multiple issues that outweigh the cost of repair relative to replacement.
Refrigerator/Freezer
POWER: Check the outlet and ensure the refrigerator is plugged in and the outlet is functioning. Check your circuit breaker to see if the refrigerator circuit has tripped. If it has, reset it.
TEMPERATURE: Make sure your temperature settings are correct. Sometimes the thermostat can inadvertently be adjusted.
DOOR SEALS: Inspect your rubber door seals for cracks or debris that might prevent the door from closing properly.
CONDENSER COILS: Dust and debris can accumulate on the condenser coils. Check if they are dirty and clean them if necessary (usually located at the back or bottom of the fridge).
ICE BUILDUP: If you have a freezer, inspect it for excessive ice buildup that could affect airflow and cooling.
Washers
POWER: Make sure the washer is plugged in securely. Check your breaker box. Try a hard reset by unplugging your washer for 5 minutes, then plugging it back in.
WATER SUPPLY ISSUES: Check that both hot & cold valves are fully open. Inspect hoses for kinks. Make sure your home has water pressure (try a nearby sink).
SMELLS, RESIDUE, POOR CLEANING: Run a cleaning cycle (or hot cycle with vinegar). Check for mold in the door gasket. Use less detergent. More soap does not equal cleaner clothes. Leave the door and the dispenser door open after washing to air-dry.
WEIRD NOISES OR VIBRATIONS: Make sure the washer is level (adjust the feet). If new, check that the shipping bolts weren't left installed.
Dryer
POWER: Make sure the appliance is plugged in. Check the breaker. Try a reset (unplug for 5 minutes).
NOT DRYING CLOTHES: Clean the lint trap (every load). Make sure your dryer vent hose isn't crushed. Go outside and check the vent flap - is air coming out? A clogged vent will prevent proper drying.
DRYER TAKING FOREVER/CLOTHES STILL DAMP: Try smaller loads. If your clothes are soaked (dripping wet), there may be an issue with your washer, not your dryer.
Dishwasher
POWER: Check the breaker. Try a rest (flip the breaker off for 5 minutes). Check the child lock mode if the buttons aren't responding. Make sure the unit is securely plugged in under the sink.
NOT FILLING WITH WATER: Check the water valve under the sink (should be fully open).
NOT DRAINING: Clean the filter at the bottom of the unit. Check for food debris blocking the drain.
DISHES STILL DIRTY: Spin the spray arms - are they blocked? Make sure holes in the spray arm are not filled with debris. Make sure nothing is blocking the detergent door. Make sure the RinseAid dispenser is full. New models of dishwashers are designed to work with a rinse aid.
Range/Oven/Stove
POWER: Check the breaker. Make sure fully plugged in (if accessible). Try a reset (unplug and plug back in after 5 minutes). Look for control lock mode if buttons won't respond.
BURNERS NOT LIGHTING (GAS): Make sure the burner cap is seated properly. Cooking and cleaning can knock it out of alignment.
